Sagay City distributes pigs, chicken amid ASF threat

BACOLOD CITY – The Sagay City government distributed pigs and free-range chicken to farmers and graduates of the Community-Based Drug Rehabilitation Program (CBRP) on Tuesday, July 11, amid the threat of African Swine Fever (ASF) and hog cholera that affected some parts of the province. The Negros Occidental city remains ASF-free. The City Veterinary Office led the distribution of 100 fattening and 15 guild pigs to 65 farmers and livestock raisers and 66 heads of free-range chickens to 22 CBDRP graduates of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG). Sagay Mayor Narciso Javelosa Jr. urged  beneficiaries to take care of these livestock animals as he hopes that they could help them increase their income.
