Pinoys get praise from Canada, SG, Chile envoys

Vice President Sara Duterte was the recipient of praises for Filipinos by three foreign envoys who paid courtesy calls to her on Tuesday, July 11.

In a statement, the Office of the Vice President (OVP) said that envoys from Chile, Canada, and Singapore lauded Filipinos for their “hard work, patience, and generosity” when they visited the official.
The discussion with the Vice President centered around the Filipino workers and their qualities.
The ambassadors also said they would want to strengthen their countries’ relations with the Philippines.
During the visit of Canadian Ambassador to the Philippines David Bruce Hartman, Duterte thanked him for the Philippines’ inclusion in Canada’s Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) program.
The program, which gives the opportunity for eligible Filipinos to visit, study, or do business in Canada, was recently announced.
“We appreciate the visa waiver program for the Filipinos,” she said.
For his part, Hartman shared that the program aims to strengthen people-to-people relations.
The Canadian government expects two million Filipinos to be able to enter the country through the eTA program to visit families and friends in Canada.
Singaporean Ambassador to the Philippines Constance See Sin Yuan also said they are “very grateful to the Filipinos,” numbering to around 200,000, who have become part of their daily lives as they live, work, and study in Singapore.

“Filipinos stood by us, stood in solidarity in the fight against Covid,” See Sin Yuan said.
She added that Filipinos were committed to taking care of Singaporeans, especially during the pandemic.
Chilean Ambassador to the Philippines Alvaro Jara Bucarey also visited Duterte and expressed his country’s desire to strengthen its relationship with the Philippines.
