A man facing charges for indiscriminate firing fell from the third floor of the Manila City Hall building on Wednesday, July 12.

The suspect managed to escape the building but was later arrested after texting his girlfriend to meet him at Mabini Street near the corner of Padre Faura Street in Ermita at 9 p.m. on the same day. According to city hall personnel, the suspect fell from the third-floor window of the building after undergoing his inquest proceedings on Wednesday morning at the Manila Prosecutor's Office. Meanwhile, in the footage captured by closed-circuit television (CCTV), the suspect was seen walking behind his police escorts in the hallway when he suddenly ran to the open window and jumped.

The suspect was immediately rushed by the Manila Disaster Risk and Reduction Office (DRRMO) to the Philippine General Hospital and is still undergoing medical treatment. MPD said the suspect sustained deformities on his right leg, and lacerations on his chin and left eyebrow. It said Fernandez faces charges for violations of Republic Act 10591 of the Revised Penal Code (Illegal Possession of Firearm and Ammunition of Regulation Act), Article 155 (Alarms and Scandals and/or Indiscriminate Firing), Article 258 (other forms of threats), Article 266 (Slight Physical Injury), and Republic Act 9262 (Violence Against Women and their Children).
