BUTUAN CITY – A magnitude-4.2 earthquake jolted Davao Occidental before dawn on Wednesday, July 12.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the earthquake was recorded at 12:47 a.m. and its epicenter was 208 kilometers (kms) southeast of Balut Island, Sarangani, Davao Occidental.
The tremor had a shallow depth of only one kilometer, Phivolcs said, and no aftershocks or damage is expected.
The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) in Southern Mindanao and Davao Occidental Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reported no damage or injury from the earthquake.
