P4-B shabu, marijuana seized in Cordillera from January to June
BAGUIO CITY – The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Cordillera seized shabu and marijuana worth P4 billion in the first six months of this year.
PDEA information officer Rosel Sarmiento 575,577.9983 grams of shabu were seized in in 376 drug operations, along with 103.93 milliliters of liquid shabu, 776,384 marijuana plants, 37,733.8082 grams of dried marijuana leaves, 71,000 grams of marijuana stalks, and 9,511 grams of marijuana bricks.
Sarmiento said that 58 drug personalities were apprehended in 18 buy-bust operations, 10 search warrant operations, 16 marijuana eradication, and one interdiction operation.
Seventy-four drug cases were filed in court against drug personalities in the region.
There were 45 resolved cases, 22 resulting in conviction, 13 dismissals, and 10 acquittals.
Under the Barangay Drug Clearing Program, 782 barangays were declared drug-cleared, 340 drug-free, and 22 drug-unaffected as of June 30.
Thirty-four drug-affected barangays are subject to clearing – Abra, 26; Apayao, one; and Kalinga, seven.
Sarmiento added that to provide reformation of pushers who voluntarily surrendered to authorities and plea bargainers of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 who are not eligible to undergo the Department of Health’s program on General Intervention and Community-Based Drug Rehabilitation, an enhanced guideline was provided under the Dangerous Drugs Board Regulation No. 3, Series of 2022.
