Nissan continues to offer car buyers compelling alternatives with the unveiling of the new Almera sedan. Ushering in the 2024 model year, the vehicle features a distinct new look, upgraded features, and even connected services. The new look is heralded by the latest interpretation of the V-Motion grille, now broader and with black and chrome garnishing. Headlights sport more fierce daytime running lamps serving as eyebrows. The top-of-the-line variant even boasts of a two-tone color scheme to further distinguish it from other variants. Inside, the interior receives updates as well. The cabin gets a blue-and-black combo to break away from the typical black and beige of the competition. The top-of-the-line variant even gets matching leather seats with dark blue trim. For the driver, there’s a seven-inch digital multi-info display that also doubles as the trip computer. Entertainment comes on an eight-inch touchscreen media display. It’s compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and routes audio through six speakers. It also comes with automatic climate control and several USB ports to connect to the infotainment or charge devices. Easily the headline feature is the addition of Nissan Connect Services. It’s a smart vehicle connectivity app that works on both iOS and Android devices. Once installed, this app lets users to remotely connect with the vehicle and get real time information on the vehicle. These include vehicle health reports, and maintenance alert/reminders. The driver can control certain aspects remotely, like start or stop the engine from the app, or even activate the horn or lights. Perhaps the most impressive are its safety features, which include a theft alert, and MyCar Finder, speed alert, collision notification and even an SOS emergency call button. Powering the Almera is the 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbo engine that’s now available across all variants. This efficient yet powerful engine makes 100 PS at 5000 rpm and 152 Nm of torque at 2400 - 4000 rpm. It’s paired with an Xtronic CVT to maximize fuel efficiency. Finally, there’s also a whole host of safety features. Now to be expected of any Nissan is the Intelligent Mobility suite. This includes blind-spot warning, rear-cross traffic alert, lane departure warning, high-beam assist, around-view monitor, and forward emergency braking. All variants of the Almera come with six airbags, anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, brake assist, vehicle dynamic controls, ISOFIX child seat anchors, and hill-start assist. The 2024 Almera is now available at authorized Nissan dealerships nationwide and is covered by a five-year warranty. The Nissan Connect Services includes a three-year subscription worth P30,000.  The Nissan Almera can be had for as little as P839,000 for the EL Turbo M/T (some features premium features not included). However, those that prefer the high tech and smart features should look into the two automatic models, the 0 VE Turbo CVT, priced at P1,059,000; and the VL Turbo CVT, priced at P1,149,000.
