Sister of student who died from cancer prior to graduation marches in Pasay City commencement rites
The younger sister of a 23-year-old student who died from cancer two days before her graduation marched on her behalf during the commencement rites of the City College of Pasay on Monday, July 10.
Darlen Gurabil attended the graduation ceremony at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) to personally receive the diploma of Ruffa Mae, her sister, who finished a Bachelor of Political Science degree.

Gurabil said that her sister was very excited to graduate. Unfortunately, she died from her illness on July 8, two days before the graduation day. She held Ruffa Mae's graduation photo when she marched to the stage to personally receive her sister's diploma. She said she attended her sister's graduation instead of her own moving-up ceremony, which was also scheduled on July 10. Gurabil, who will be in her senior high school in the coming school year, remarked that it was more important to receive Ruffa Mae's diploma, saying it would make her older sister happy. Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano said the city government will give assistance to the Gurabil family.
