Pasig City confers employee service awards to 55 retirees
The Pasig City officials conferred "Government Employee Service Awards" to 55 retirees who have loyally served and rendered more than 15 years of "dedicated and faithful" public service to the local government and to Pasigueños.
In a brief ceremony on Monday, July 10, Pasig City Mayor Vico, Vice Mayor Robert "Dodot" Jaworski Jr., and the 11th City Council honored the women and men who continuously worked for the city government until they reached the mandatory retirement age of 65 years-old.

"Our sincerest gratitude for the support and significant contribution they have given throughout their years of employment in the city," said a representative of the Program on Awards and Incentives for Service Excellence (PRAISE) Committee. Each retiree received a plaque of recognition, and a personalized fossil wrist watch with the Pasig City seal, the name and years of service engraved on the watch. Gift cheques ranging from P2,000 to P10,000 were also given depending on the retiree's length of service. Around 24 retirees who served the city government for 15 to 24 years received P2,000 worth of gift cheques each; 22 retirees who served for 25 to 34 years got P5,000; seven were gifted P7,000 for serving for 35 to 44 years; and two were rewarded P10,000 for serving for more than 45 years.

Mayor Sotto emphasized the significance of taking care of their government employees in order to develop a more efficient local government and deliver better public services. "Ang thrust natin ngayon sa ating lokal na pamahalaan, kasama ang ating human resources department (HRD), ay gusto natin magbigay ng dignidad at seguridad sa ating mga manggagawa at empleyado (The thrust of our current administration, together with the human resources department, is to provide dignity and security to our workers and employees)," Sotto said. "Ang politiko na katulad namin, ang termino namin limitado lang, pero ang mga empleyado natin sa bureaucracy ang lifeblood ng ating lokal na pamahalaan, kahit sino ang manalo sa halalan. Kayo ang nagpapatakbo ng ating pamahalaan (For politicians like us, our terms are limited, but our employees are the lifeblood of our local government regardless of who wins elections. You all run the government)," he added. The government service awards for the retirees was one of the ways in which the local government can grant additional rewards and recognition to their deserving employees, the mayor said. He mentioned the on-going reforms being made for the [regularization process](https://mb.com.ph/2022/05/05/over-2000-pasig-lgu-employees-regularized-over-5000-promoted-mayor-vico/) of employees.
