This was announced by the water service provider on Monday, July 10.
Maynilad said the daily water service interruptions will occur as the raw water allocation for Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage Systems (MWSS) has been brought down to 48 CMS (cubic meters per second) due to the elevation of Angat Dam falling below its minimum operating level of 180 meters.
The water shortage will occur from 7 p.m. to around 6 a.m. daily.

“The allocation was lowered in an effort to preserve water in Angat Dam, given the possible worsening effects of El Niño in the coming months. However, this also means that Maynilad will get less supply than it needs to sustain normal service levels,” Maynilad said.
“Since we still get rains over the Ipo watershed, it is likely that these daily service interruptions will not be felt immediately by July 12. And since Maynilad now generates additional water from its various supply augmentation projects, the actual duration of these service interruptions may be shorter than projected,” it added.
“Upon resumption of (the) water service, please expect some discoloration in the supply. This is a normal consequence of service interruptions, as the returning supply scours the naturally occurring mineral deposits inside the pipelines. When this happens, let the water flow out briefly until it clears but use the initial flow of water for non-drinking purposes, such as for flushing toilets, to avoid wastage,” it said.
Maynilad also said that mobile water tankers are on standby to be deployed to the affected areas when needed.
