Hundreds of residents availed of basic city government services during the program’s kickoff in Colonia Divina, the city’s farthest barangay, last week. Through this program, the city government, along with various national government agencies, is seeking to provide all its 25 barangays with the basic services. In his speech, Mayor Narciso Javelosa Jr. said that this 27-year-old program aims to bring government services to every barangay to cut the hustle of going to the city proper. Among the services offered in the Oplan Paglilingkod are farmers’ consultation on crops, fisherman consultation on fishing concerns, seeds and seedling distribution, veterinary clinic and consultative dialogue, animal immunization and deworming, livestock registration, and swine fattening and dispersal. The program also offers dental and surgical services like free circumcision, routine medical examination, dialogue on cleanliness and sanitation, mass wedding, registration and national ID registration, and barangay assembly and consultation with barangay officials. The program will run for almost two months in 32 locations and will end at Hacienda San Agustin in Barangay Paraiso.
