Rep. Paolo Duterte highlights achievements in first year at House

DAVAO CITY – First Congressional District Rep. Paolo “Pulong” Duterte has consistently demonstrated a solid commitment to enhancing the well-being of the people he served, as shown in his accomplishments in his first year as a second termer in the House of Representatives (HOR).

The lawmaker released on June 30, Friday afternoon, his accomplishments from July 2022 to June 2023. He highlighted the 169 House Bills he had authored, of which five were enacted into law, while others are still pending in the different committees in the HOR, and some were in the Senate for reading.

Among his House Bills are 04696 and 02384, an act protecting senior citizens from violence and providing them opportunities, respectively; 05074, an act providing Filipinos’ free annual medical checkups; and 06743, an act where parents of children with disability will get a monthly subsidy.

Rep. Duterte also cited achievements in various projects, such as medical and burial assistance, emergency response, educational aid, Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), and infrastructure.

His office assisted 22,253 patients and 575 senior citizens at the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) here, 1,204 cancer patients, and 24,040 patients in private hospitals. He aided 26,673 families in burial as well.

Rep. Duterte also aided 5,357 fire victims and 2,607 flood victims per family, and 78,451 identified beneficiaries under the TUPAD program. His office assisted 1,600 college and 344 TESDA scholars, 40 postgraduates in medicine, and seven postgraduates in law school.

His office has provided three more transporter ambulance vehicles to barangays that do not have one and turned over nine multi-purpose buildings, one fire station, and two evacuation centers-covered courts to their respective beneficiaries.

The lawmaker has led the construction of several infrastructures, including  drainage systems, roads, revetment, water systems, creeks, bypass roads, and seawalls. His office also accommodated 436 solicitations and gave tents, wheelchairs, nebulizers, and hearing aids to beneficiaries.

Rep. Duterte is a second term member of the HOR elected on May 9 in the 2022 national polls. He served the first term with the same position after being elected last May 2019. The lawmaker has a track record of effectively running a government office.

For the young lawmaker, helping to improve the lives of the public and make positive changes, in general, is an unwritten qualification one must have upon entry to public service and throughout the journey.

With such a great mind, Rep. Duterte’s persistence has paid off. The majority chose him based on the recent surveys of the RP-Mission Development Foundation Inc. (RPMD) and the Tangere Senatorial Survey, respectively.

Rep. Duterte had been the Top Performing District Representative in the Davao region, garnering 81.3 percent, according to the survey conducted by the RP-Mission Development Foundation Inc. (RPMD). He also got 37 percent in the Tangere senatorial poll, which puts him in ninth place.

Rep. Duterte always underscores community service and ensures human security. His principles come from his upbringing in a secure family and his belief that having a blessed life must be spent well serving others.
