The Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP) in Las Piñas City conducted a comprehensive basic skills training for the community fire auxiliary members on June 29 at the Hansuyin Village covered court in Barangay Talon, Kuatro.
Vice Mayor Arpil Aguilar said the training aimed to enhance the capabilities of local residents in responding to fire emergencies and promoting a culture of safety within the community.
Aguilar said the program covered various essential skills, including fire prevention, proper handling of fire extinguishers, evacuation procedures, and basic first aid techniques.
The vice-mayor, speaking to the participants, underscored the city government's commitment to fostering a resilient and well-prepared community.
Aguilar also commended the BFP for their proactive approach in engaging citizens as fire auxiliary members, empowering them to contribute to the city's overall safety and disaster management efforts.
She said the training was attended by different community groups,
including homeowners association; barangay officials, and
concerned residents.
The vice-mayor said the participants actively engaged in hands-on exercises,
simulations, and informative discussions led by experienced BFP trainers.
Aguilar added that by equipping citizens with essential firefighting skills, Las Piñas City responders can swiftly and effectively address fire emergencies withinin their neighborhoods.
She said the city’s commitment to proactive disaster preparedness serves as an
example for other communities, highlighting the significance of citizen
participation in ensuring public safety.
