A Filipino-American woman who was abducted at gunpoint and held hostage by her ex-boyfriend was found dead in his home in Las Vegas, Nevada last June 15.
The victim was identified by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police (LVMP) as Rizza Abrera, 38, owner of a nail salon on Eastern Avenue in Las Vegas.
Police identified the suspect as Steven Evans, 41, who also died from a bullet wound in the head.
According to local media reports from NBC News 3 and 8 News NOW, Evans took Abrera at gunpoint, forced her out the salon and into a car at around 7:30 p.m.
With the help of witnesses who remembered the car's license plate, the police traced the vehicle to Evan's house at Scrub Jay Court near Fort Apache and W. Sunset roads.
A SWAT team was deployed to help Las Vegas police respond to the hostage situation.
Aside from the suspect and the victim, their three-year-old child and two other women were inside the house. The suspect was reportedly armed with multiple firearms.
SWAT was able to rescue one woman and the child, while the other woman was found hiding in a bathroom, reports said.
"Inside the residence, they located the male in an upstairs room with a gunshot wound to the head, and they located the female unresponsive," Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Jason Johansson told the press.
Abrera was pronounced dead at the scene by police. Her cause of death was not disclosed.
Evans was taken to the University Medical Center and later pronounced dead.
The case is still under police investigation.
