QC LGU's online talk show cited for uniqueness, innovation, impact

Quezon City’s online talk show that showcased the diverse programs and projects of the local government for the city residents was recognized during the  Asia Pacific Broadcasting+ Awards 2023 held in Singapore on Thursday evening, June 8. The “Usapang QC” or Let's Talk, QC!, spearheaded by the QC Public Affairs and Information Services Department (PAISD) led by Mr.  Engelbert Apostol, has received the Excellence Award for Government Streaming during the event for its qualities including uniqueness, innovation, and audience impact.  According to the city government, Usapang QC runs every other Friday and is being livestreamed via its official Facebook page (Quezon City Government). It added that the program showcases not only the initiatives of the city but also the experiences of residents who have benefitted from its implemented programs and projects. The show also allows interaction by accommodating questions and comments from online viewers and barangay leaders.  The program, which started in July 2022, already had 12 episodes  in its first season featuring several topics including a Christmas gift-giving with Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte and Vice Mayor Gian Sotto. Belmonte, who accepted the award during the event, expressed her gratitude and stressed the significance of the online talk show in promoting the city's ongoing efforts to improve its people’s lives She also vowed “to continue creating quality content and informative discussions as part of our commitment to inclusive and innovative leadership, as well as to fighting misleading information in social media.” Before Usapang QC, the city government launched a similar online talk show entitled “Sa Totoo Lang” webinar series in 2020, which tackled and debunked misconceptions and address concerns on Covid-19 vaccines and other issues of city residents. The Asia-Pacific Broadcasting+ Awards recognizes innovation and excellence of different programs in projects that advance the field of broadcasting in the areas of technology, digitalization, and engineering.
