More than 1,300 members of the Manila Police District (MPD) will be deployed to secure the areas where events and protests are set to take place on Independence Day on Monday, June 12.
MPD chief Brig. Gen. Andre Dizon reminded the protest groups to avoid vandalizing public walls and causing traffic congestion to motorists.
He said several policemen will be present during the Independence Day programs at Rizal Park and Quirino Grandstand, which are expected to be attended by President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.
MPD also advised motorists to stay updated on the city's traffic advisories to avoid gridlocks and inconvenience.
It added that crowds are foreseen to increase throughout the day on Monday.
