A 4.1-magnitude earthquake jolted Davao de Oro on Friday morning, June 9, said the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
Phivolcs said the quake, which happened around 8:30 a.m. struck 3 kilometers northeast of Compostela, Davao de Oro.

It recorded the quake at Intensity IV (moderately strong) in New Bataan, Davao de Oro; Intensity III (weak) in Nabunturan, Davao de Oro; Intensity II (slightly felt) in Maco and Laak in Davao de Oro; and Intensity I (scarcely perceptible) in Mati City, Davao Oriental. Phivolcs said the earthquake was tectonic, which means it was caused by the movement of an active fault near the area. However, it does not expect any aftershocks due to this earthquake.
