BUTUAN CITY – A magnitude-4.1 earthquake jolted Davao de Oro on Friday morning, June 9.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the earthquake was recorded at 8:30 a.m. and its epicenter was three kilometers east of Compostela town, Davao de Oro, with a depth of 22 kilometers.
It was felt at Intensity IV in New Bataan, Davao de Oro; Intensity III in Nabunturan, Davao de Oro; Intensity II in the municipalities of Maco and Laak, Davao de Oro, and Intensity I in Mati City, Davao Oriental.
Phivolcs instruments detected the earthquake at Intensity III in Nabunturan town, Davao de Oro and Intensity I in Davao City, Davao del Sur.
Phivolcs does not expect any damage or aftershocks from the tectonic earthquake.
The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) in Southern Mindanao and Davao de Oro Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) reported no damage or injury from the earthquake which was due to the movement of an active fault in the area.
