DSWD readies tents, additional food packs for Mayon evacuees
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) prepared 3,000 family tents and an additional 68,000 food packs for people fleeing the Mayon Volcano.
DSWD Disaster Response and Management Group Assistant Secretary Marlon Alagao on Friday, June 9 said the 3,000 family tents will be used by about 15,000 families living in Mayon Volcano’s extended eight to 10-kilometer danger zone.
He added that to meet the goal of 102,000 family food packs for Albay, the DSWD Central office will send 68,000 more family food packs in addition to the 54,000 already pre-positioned in the province.
“Aside from the FFPs (family food packs), the DSWD Central Office will also distribute non-food items such as kitchen kits and hygiene kits for families who will be sheltered in the tents and evacuation centers,” he said.
