Albay's Cong Lagman gives update on Mayon situation

Albay 1st district Rep. Edcel Lagman has done his part to prepare his constituents for a possible eruption of Mayon Volcano. In a statement sent to House of Representatives reporters Friday afternoon, June 9, Rep. Lagman said he has linked up with top local officials as well as the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in the effort to brace for such an eruption. "I have coordinated with DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian, Governor Grex Lagman, Tabaco City Mayor Krisel Lagman and all of the five other mayors of the First District of Albay in preparation for a likely eruption of the volcano," the veteran solon said. "Food packs and other relief items are now prepositioned for the eventual calamity," he underscored. The elder Lagman added that, "Although we are fully prepared, we hope that the Mayon Volcano will not erupt in order to foreclose injury to residents and damage to property, agricultural crops, and infrastructure." Alert level 3 was recently hoisted on Mayon due to an "increased tendency towards hazardous eruption". Rep. Lagman is the president of the Liberal Party.
