The Police Regional Office-13 said the couple belonged to the Sandatahang Yunit Pampropaganda Platoon 16C2, Guerilla Front Committee 16, Sub-Regional Committee Northland, of the Communist Party of the Philippines-NPA Northeastern Mindanao Regional Committee (NEMRC). They turned over a 60mm mortar ammunition and caliber .38 revolver with bullets. The couple disclosed in a debriefing they are rearing their one-year-old child and finds it impossible to build an ideal family in the armed struggle as the communist movement lost its grip due to the government’s counterinsurgency campaign. They also disclosed that they are already tired of running and hiding in the mountains because of continuous military and police operations, prompting them to go back to the fold of the law. “Ka Roebert,” 28, a former member of Squad 3 (DGF 88), Platoon Banglas, SR Sentro de Grabidad 3, North Central Mindanao Regional Committee (NCMRC), surrendered to the Agusan del Sur Police Provincial Intelligence Unit and handed over a caliber .22 revolver with live ammunition. “The uncertainty of their future in the terrorist movement and the desire to give their families a peaceful life gave them the courage to abandon the CTG,” said PRO-13 Director Police Brig. Gen. Pablo G. Labra II. “Several former rebels who surrendered to the government are now living peacefully,” Labra added. These three surrenderers have pledged allegiance to the government.
