TACLOBAN CITY -- A 29-year-old woman who was caught in possession of more than half a kilo of shabu on Dec. 9, 2022Â in Barangay Linao, Ormoc City was sentenced to two life imprisonment by a regional trial court judge here recently.
The accused was identified as Reaiza Caacoy Wenceslao alias "Madame" and "Lyka." She was also ordered to pay a fine of P500,000 for each count.
She was nabbed for selling 45.15 grams of shabu worth P350,000 and possession of another 58 sachets of shabu totaling 693.6 grams.
She was then charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Anti-Illegal Drugs Act for selling and possession of dangerous drugs.
Wenceslao, who said she was called the hogger in their group or the one who made the drug drops in their distribution chain, initially pleaded guilty to the charges against her.
She then retracted it later, claiming she only pleaded guilty because she was only threatened by the police.
However, the RTC Branch 46 did not accept her retraction of the not guilty plea, noting that the accused was educated, having gone to college and finished the second year of her course.
