Metro Manila Covid-19 positivity rate continues to decrease — OCTA
The weekly positivity rate of Covid-19 in Metro Manila continued to decrease in the latest monitoring of the OCTA Research.
In an update posted on social media on Thursday, June 8, OCTA fellow Dr. Guido David said the weekly positivity rate decreased from 19.9 percent on May 30 to 14.6 percent on June 6.
“We expect this to decrease less than 10 percent next week as cases continue to decline,” David said.

Positivity rate refers to the number of individuals who yielded positive results from those who were tested for Covid-19. The benchmark for the positivity rate set by the World Health Organization is 5 percent. Moreover, David said that Metro Manila’s hospital bed occupancy for Covid-19 patients dropped from 28.8 percent to 25.5 percent during the same period. On June 7, the Department of Health reported 898 new Covid-19 cases across the country, of which 180 cases were recorded in Metro Manila. David said the country’s current positivity rate is 16.6 percent, down slightly from 17.2 percent on June 6. He projected that the country may record 900 to 1,000 new Covid-19 cases on June 8.
