Making his first public interview, after the Eat Bulaga and TAPE (Television and Production Exponents) Inc issue, veteran TV host and comedian Joey de Leon opened up his thoughts about their recent collaboration with TV5.
During his live Zoom interview with Cheryl Cosim and Julius Babao at the newcast show Frontline Pilipinas on June 7. Joey revealed that he was the one who pushed his co-host Tito and Vic Sotto to seal the deal with TV5.
''Gulity, guilty ako dyan. Actually nung nagkakagulo na, sabi ko sa sarili ko matutupad na ata yung pangarap ko. Ang pangarap ko kasi is yung sa history namin, kasi alam niyo naman dumaan na kami sa apat na station tapos siyam na presidente, so aabot kami ng 50 years,'' he said.
(Guilty, I'm guilty, actually when it was getting messy, I said to myself that my dream will come true. My dream is our history, because you know we have passed through four stations and then nine presidents, so we will reach 50 years)
Cheryl also mentioned that they were excited to continue their history with the new network. To which Joey added about the reason why they chose TV5 instead of the other TV networks.
''Yung mga paintings ko kasi dati may numero, and dalawang lang yung numero na nakaluhod yung dos at yung sinco, sila yung parang nagdadasal, ayun din kasi yung number ng weeks of the year 52, tapos kapag binaliktad mo birthday ni Boss, mahilig talaga ako sa numero,'' he said.
(My paintings used to have numbers, and only two numbers were kneeling, the two and the five, they are the ones who look like they are praying, because it is also the number of the weeks of the year 52, then when you turn it upside down it's Boss's birthday, I really have a thing for numbers)

''Kayo na ang una kong sasabihan, well yung mga paborito niyo, Bawal ang Judgemental, Pinoy Henyo, pero yung sa Pinoy Henyo meron lang ako sinuggest pero ayoko muna sabihin, pero ang gusto lang namin is maging masaya ang mga dabarkads,'' he said.
(You guys are the first to know, well your favorites, Bawal ang Judgemental, and Pinoy Henyo, but as for the Pinoy Henyo, I do have a suggestion but I don't want to say it here, but all we want for now is for the dabarkads to be happy).
During the interview, Joey got emotional when he talked about the group's departure from TAPE Inc.
"Umiyak ako nung second day, Dahil tumawag, nag-text sa akin si Susan Co. Si Susan Co, kilala niyo yung taga-Puregold, Iyakin talaga ako, e. Nag-text sa akin, ang sabi niya, ‘Are you okay?’ Ang gulo, e. So, tinawagan ko, and sabi ko, 'okay, we're okay,'' he said.
(I cried the second day because Susan Co. texted me. Susan Co, you know the one from Puregold, I'm a crybaby. She texted me, and she said, 'Are you okay?' That time was a bit messy. So, I called, and I said 'okay, we're okay')
