22-year-old man attacks six victims in stabbing spree in Baguio City
BAGUIO CITY -- A 22-year-old male who went on a stabbing spree here was arrested in a hot pursuit operation conducted by the personnel of the Baguio City Police Office on Tuesday, June 6.
The suspect was identified as John Eric Beredo, 22, native of Barcelona, Sorsogon.
The victims who all sustained stab wounds were identified as Mark David Batanglawin, student; Lyla Prudente Rutaquio, student; Joseph Mallari Dizon, Paul Tulioc Baldoza, Gemma Malnawan, and Dona May Verdadero Balisalisa.
The first victims were Batanglawin and Rutaquio who were attacked by the suspect at around 8:30 p.m. while they were sitting at the waiting shed at Sunshine Park.
The suspect ran away towards Gov. Pack Road and attacked Dizon while he was walking. The suspect ran towards Gov. Pack Road.
The victim kept his rampage and attacked Baldoza before he ran towards Crown Legacy where he also stabbed Malnawan and Balisalisa who were standing at the entrance of the hotel.
The suspect was cornered on the second floor of Crown Legacy Hotel by BCPO personnel.
All victims were brought to the nearest hospital where they were eventually declared in stable condition by the attending physician.
The suspect is now under the custody of the BCPO Police Station 5 and pertinent documents are now being prepared for inquest proceedings.
