The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), on its Facebook page, said that the winner emphasized that "luck was in his favor as he got the winning combination" through a lucky pick for only ₱20. The new millionaire from San Pedro, Laguna claimed his prize worth ₱55,394,255.40 after winning the Grand Lotto 6/55 jackpot as correctly guessed the lucky combination 04 - 16 - 26 - 24 - 14 - 47 on May 6. As told to PCSO, the winner did not keep specific numbers, unlike the other bettors. The winner also revealed that he has been playing the lottery for over 10 years. “Hindi po talaga ako nag-aalaga ng numero, ang katuwiran ko po kapag suwerte ka mananalo ka” (I am not keeping any numbers, because I believe that if you are lucky, then you will win),” he said. “Kahit isa lang ang itaya mo at ito nga po pinalad na po akong manalo ng jackpot sa mahigit na sampung taon na pagtangkilik ko sa lotto [Eventhough you only betted once (one lotto ticket entry) just like what happened to me, I was fortunate to win the jackpot for almost 10 years of playing lotto],” he added. After winning, the winner encouraged people to "try their luck" since low-stakes bets will not hurt, and it supports PCSO, which also aims to help thousands of people. The winner is planning to build his dream house and take care of his elderly parents on their medical check-ups while taking the money to invest in a business venture for his nieces' and nephews' future. Meanwhile, PCSO reminded winners that they must claim their prizes within one year or else PCSO will forfeit the prize and donate it to PCSO Charity Fund under the PCSO Charter (RA 1169). Also, per the Tax Reform Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) law, every P10,000 prizes are subject to a 20 percent tax deduction. Lastly, PCSO ensures all the winners' personal information is kept confidential for security.
