Calapan City radioman's shooter has drug-related records, PNP says

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has identified the gunman in the killing of radio commentator in Calapan City after the local police have referred the case of murder against him.

PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo said the shooter of Cresenciano Bunduquin was identified as as Isabelo Bautista Jr., adding that the records disclosed that the latter had previous police records relating to illegal drugs.

Citing PNP records, Fajardo said Bautista was among those who surrendered to the local police of Oriental Mindoro at the height of the campaign against illegal drugs.

Police Brig. Gen. Joel Doria, director of the Police Regional Office 4B, earlier said the case against the shooter of Bunduin was already referred to the Office of the Prosecutor of Calapan City on June 5 following a thorough investigation of the Special Investigation Task Group, formed to investigate the killing Bunduquin.

Bunduquin, commentator for dwXR 101.7 Kalahi FM MUX Online Radio was shot and killed in front of his store in Barangay Sta. Isabel in Calapan City on May 31 at around 4:20 a.m.

"The SITG has completed its initial findings by referring appropriate criminal complaints against the second suspect. I commend the members of the 'SITG Bundoquin' who all worked tirelessly in the investigation,” said Doria.

The SITG was led by Police Col. Samuel Delorino.

Delorino earlier said that they have already sent teams to secure the family of Bunduiqin.

The driver of the getaway motorcycle identified as Narciso Guntan, based on the local police, died in a motorcycle crash after Bunduquin’s son chased them after the shooting of his father.
