PH Red Cross, partners provide aid worth P3-M to storm Paeng-affected families
The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) collaborated with the Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) and the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) to assist in the recovery of 1,550 families in Aklan, Capiz, Antique, and Maguindanao who were adversely affected by tropical storm Paeng in October 2022.
To help develop livelihood assets and meet nutritional requirements, the three organizations gave livelihood aid and food packs worth over P3 million on Tuesday, June 6.
The PRC has now provided P41.5-million worth of humanitarian aid to the provinces affected by Paeng since October 2022.

PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Richard Gordon conveyed gratitude for the support of QFFD and QRCS, highlighting the latter's assistance to a variety of PRC humanitarian responses, such as typhoon Ulysses in 2020, the Marawi crisis in 2017, and typhoon Haiyan in 2013. "Their relentless efforts to support us are proof that the Red Cross and Red Crescent societies all over the globe are committed to helping each other in doing what must be done, regardless of origin and differences," Gordon said. Representatives from QRCS and QFFD went to Libacao, Aklan, and Upi, Maguindanao, on May 30 and June 3, respectively, with PRC Aklan Chapter and PRC Cotabato-Maguindanao Chapter, to start giving food packs to 650 families, including those living in PRC's Tent City. On June 1, 129 families in Sigma, Capiz, received food packets and P10,000 in livelihood grants. Also, on June 15 and 16, all of the remaining families will be provided with the same recovery aid. Moreover, the QRCS and QFFD will give PRC a food truck and water tanker as part of the agreement. Secretary-General Dr. Gwen Pang suggested pre-positioning donated equipment in disaster-stricken areas.
