Let’s talk about lips

What a lip filler can do

LIPS.png Who doesn’t want irresistible lips? Beautiful lips that are plump and pronounced exude youthfulness among women. They also add attractiveness to the overall facial aesthetic. Compared to thin lips, full and fleshy ones are naturally sexier and more attractive. Luckily, getting a natural-looking full pout is easy, thanks to dermal fillers!

Lips that become thinner and dry, dehydrated, with corners that begin to droop or point downward, a fading Cupid’s bow, or flatter looking ones are all signs of lip aging. This is because collagen depletes with age and there is loss of facial volume and muscle that also affects the lips. Lifestyle factors such as smoking and prolonged and regular sun exposure are also important factors. Other than that, thin lips may also be due to genetics.

A dermal filler treatment can address lip aging and thin lips specifically as it can help enhance and define the shape of the lips to make them look fuller and more attractive. An example of a dermal filler treatment uses hyaluronic acid, a substance that is naturally found in the body. Its unique property is that even a small amount of it can hold or retain water. Its hydrating properties are what makes hyaluronic acid so popular, from skin care to skin treatments.

Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers can be applied on different areas of the face, including the lips. They are temporary, usually lasting from six months to a year. Quick and minimally-invasive, however, it also requires little to no downtime, making it an attractive option compared to other lip augmentation procedures such as fat transfer or implants that require surgery and significant downtime and pose higher risks.

There are several well-known dermal filler brands today, such as Restylane and Juvederm, which help define and plump the lips. Teosyal RHA is another brand of hyaluronic acid filler from Teoxane, a Swiss company that designs and manufactures hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers. Teosyal offers a longer-lasting type of hyaluronic acid technology than other brands, lasting for up to 18 months. Moreover, it boasts of “dynamic fillers” that follow lip movement and expression.  Since lips vary in shape, size, and texture, lip filler treatments may vary in technique, which filler to apply, and how much should be used.

Remember that the best filler treatments are the ones that look the most natural, which is why it is important to choose a licensed and trained injector as these procedures require experience, technique, precision, and skill. It is also suggested to schedule regular visits to ensure that your doctor can closely monitor your progress.
