The University of the Philippines Diliman (UP Diliman) has inaugurated its 12th chancellor on Monday, June 5.
Former UP College of Law Dean Edgardo Carlo Vistan II was inaugurated in a ceremony at UP Diliman's Quezon Hall, according to the official publication of the UP College of Mass Communication, "Tinig ng Plaridel."

Vistan pledged in his speech to "strive towards democratic governance and promote a highly participatory culture in the university," as well as "developing a culture of honor and excellence," according to Tinig ng Plaridel. Despite the criticisms leveled at the Board of Regents' decision to select Vistan on April 3, the University's publication stated, "No students are present here today to register their campaigns to the new chancellor." "Kung anuman ang plano mo, bukas ang Quezon Hall para sa iyo. Iniimbitahan kita sa patuloy na pagtataguyod ng UP at Diliman (Whatever you plans are, the Quezon Hall is open for you, and I am inviting you to continue on building the UP Diliman),” Tinig ng Plaridel quoted on Jimenez’s speech.
