Despite their different political affiliations, Robredo was one of the 432 recipients of the OVP’s certificate of appreciation, which recognizes the partners’ “institutional support” to Duterte’s office.
The former vice president, however, did not attend the event held at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila in Pasay City.
It was Angat Buhay executive director Raffy Magno who received the plaque on Robredo’s behalf.
A copy of the certificate was posted on social media, with it bearing the name “Hon. Leni Robredo.”
It said the certificate was being awarded “in recognition of their contribution to the Office of the Vice President's vision to reach, serve, and create lasting impact on the lives of the Filipino people.”
Robredo, who was a staunch critic of the Duterte administration, ran and lost against President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., the Vice President’s running mate.
In her speech, Duterte recognized her office’s partners’ contributions in helping them achieve their goals.
“To serve our people, to reach them, and bring about meaningful change in their lives is the foundation of our enduring unity,” she said.
The Pasidungog was a celebration of collaboration, appreciation, and recognition of the partners who have played a pivotal role in supporting the operations of the OVP.
The event highlighted their contributions and acknowledges their significant impact in expanding the scope and enriching the socioeconomic programs of the office.
The Vice President took pride in establishing nine satellite offices in Davao, Zamboanga, Cotabato, Tandag, Cebu, Bacolod, Tacloban, Isabela, and Dagupan to ensure that the OVP’s programs, especially its medical and burial assistance projects, are accessible to all Filipinos.
Two Public Assistance Division (PAD) Extension Offices, in Lipa, Batangas and in Tondo, Manila, were also established to offer the same projects of the OVP.
Another satellite office in Region 5 is already in the works to serve the Bicolanos.
“Through the satellite offices and the PAD extension offices, we can immediately, effectively, and efficiently respond to the needs of our people for social services and other available government programs,” Duterte said.
She also brought the Mag Negosyo Ta ‘Day (MTD) project, which she initiated as Davao City mayor, to the national stage.
The project aims to help women and members of the LGBTQI+ by augmenting their daily income, making them economically empowered and independent.
“Our vision is to see marginalized sectors and groups right in the middle of robust economic activities in our communities where the incidence of poverty is high — and to open opportunities for others to be financially literate and secure,” the official shared.
Duterte also highlighted other programs by the OVP namely the “Peak Hours Augmentation Bus Service (PHABS) - Libreng Sakay” program, OVP Disaster Operations Center (OVP-DOC), the “PagbaBAGo: A Million Learners and Trees Campaign”, the PanSarap Program, and the “You Can Be VP” project”.
