Parts of Roxas Boulevard in Manila will be temporarily closed on June 12 to give to the celebration of the 125th Anniversary of Philippine independence declaration, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced on Monday, June 5.
In a statement, the MMDA said the road closure is from from TM Kalaw to P. Burgos, both bounds from 5am to 10am for a flag raising ceremony.
It added that the Katigbak Parkway, South Rd, and Independence Rd will be temporarily closed from 12:01am to 10:00pm to give way to a civic military parade.
“The MMDA will deploy traffic enforcers to assist in traffic management; and deploy tow trucks, ambulances, and vacuum trucks,” the statement read.
“Concrete and plastic barriers as well as traffic cones will be placed in key areas,” it added.
The MMDA, however, said there will be rerouting scheme that will be implemented to ease vehicular traffic.
It said the affected trucks going to North Harbor are advised to reroute from SLEX straight ahead to Osmeña Highway then right turn to Quirino Avenue, straight to Nagtahan St., going to Lacson Avenue, left turn to Yuseco St., and straight ahead to Capulong St. then right turn or turn left to R-10 road to destination.
Trucks coming from Parañaque area, on the other hand, were advised to turn right at Quirino Avenue to Nagtahan then Lacson Avenue to destination. Trucks going to the south may use the same route.
