In a statement dated June 1, Ka Dionesio Magbuelas, spokesperson of the Mount Cansermon Command, said that 49-year-old Raul Enmacino was one of the suspects in the killing of an NPA couple in his residence in April 2022.

Magbuelas said they invited the victim to answer the allegations against him but he allegedly continued monitoring the group’s movement and reported it to government forces.

On May 25, two unidentified persons approached Enmacino while he was in a rice field near his house and shot him in the head and chest, according to the police.

A week after the incident, a man was also gunned down by two unidentified persons in Barangay Carabalan, Himamalylan on Friday, June 2.

Police do not discount the possibility that the death of Michael Soledad, 36, of Barangay Carabalan, might also be insurgency-related.

Investigation said the victim was having a drinking session with some friends when one of the two perpetrators arrived and shot him twice.

Police recovered from the crime scene two fired bullets of a 9mm caliber pistol.

A series of encounters between the military and NPA have occurred in these two barangays in central Negros.
