MPD weeklong ops arrest 260 suspects, seizes P7.4-M illegal drugs

A total of 266 suspects were arrested while P7.4 million worth of illegal drugs were confiscated in the weeklong anti-criminality operation by the Manila Police District (MPD) in the city from May 28 to June 3. MPD chief Brigadier Gen. Andre Perez Dizon said 50 suspects were arrested for possession of illegal drugs, 144 for illegal gambling, eight for illegal possession of firearms, 65 wanted persons. Meanwhile, violators of the city ordinances were also apprehended during the weeklong drive. More than 3,200 violators were caught smoking in public places in the city and 481 citations were made for traffic law violations. The police said 1,698 violators were apprehended for obstructions, 959 for going half-naked in public, and 24 for defying other ordinances. “The Manila Police District is committed to a proactive brand of policing and will be tenacious in our anti-criminality campaign to ensure public safety and public order in the city of Manila,” Dizon said.
