Seafarer applications such as the MISMO (Marina Integrated Seafarers Management Online) System and Marina OAS (Online Application System) can now be accessed through the e-Gov Super App, which serves as a “comprehensive platform that consolidates various government applications from partner agencies, offering a convenient one-stop shop for the public.”
Marina, in a statement on Monday, June 5, said: “By incorporating Marina's seafarer applications, the DICT's initiative underscores the significance of digitalization and aims to foster digital transformation across different sectors of the government.”
The collaboration between the Marina and DICT was unveiled during the kick off ceremony of the National Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Month at Malacañang in Manila last June 2.
Marina said that the initiative forms part of the DICT’s ongoing efforts to promote digitization and automation within government systems.
It can be recalled that last April 25, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the DICT signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) aimed at better management of infrastructure projects and transport programs through interconnection and integration with the latter's systems.
Further, Marina stated that the endeavor was also aligned with the objectives of the agency’s Maritime Industry Development Plan (MIDP) 2028, particularly the "Implementation of a Sustainable Maritime Innovation, Digitalization, Transformation, and Knowledge Center (SMIDTKC)."
The program seeks to facilitate collaboration between the Marina and the DICT in “implementing significant steps towards digitization and automation, ultimately enhancing the integration of government systems and applications.”
“Furthermore, the MOU empowers the agency to automate and digitalize its processes, reduce paperwork, and enable real-time access to relevant information. It is anticipated that these measures will not only contribute to the Philippines' digital transformation endeavors but also enhance its competitiveness in the maritime industry,” Marina pointed out.
