Marcos stated this in his speech during the launching of the 125th Independence Day commemorative coins in Malacañang on Monday, June 5. Citing that the "most modern technology" was used by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) in creating the three commemorative coins for the 125th Anniversary of Philippine Independence and Nationhood the President said the government will use the best technologies and techniques for the country. "We have used the most modern technology, which also signifies that the Philippines is at that stage in its development that we are now at the forefront and we’ll use the best technologies, the best techniques, everything that is good and new for our country," he said. This as the central bank used the latest digital printing technology in developing the coin set, which features the first colored, non-circulation, commemorative coins produced by the BSP. "I have never seen coins like these before, but we have used all the best technology, may kulay na (it now has colors), the angle, you change the angle which you view it and you see other things...and you made a very, very good job of it, so I congratulate you all," the chief executive said as he congratulated the BSP during the unveiling of the commemorative coins. The BSP issued the coin set with P100, P20, and P5 denominations in commemoration of the 1898 declaration of Philippine independence, the birth of the country’s first republic at the Barasoain Church, and the bravery of the Filipinos who fought for the country’s sovereignty in the Philippine-American War, respectively. During the launch, Marcos said the commemorative coins "reminds us how far we have gone and the significant of what we have achieved in 125 years."
