An iconic Pinoy gimikan is back

We always have that one place where we feel right at home when we are thousands of miles away from real home, right? For Pinoys in Las Vegas, it’s easily Gimik Republik that brings back memories from comforting home cook-like momma dishes and street food delicacies that go well with beers plus the head-bang inducing OPM rock songs from a live band that fill the most intimate setting of this iconic Filipino gimmick place. Gimik Republik which was coined to describe a place where people convene for leisurely fun activities has been in existence since 2019 in the Chinatown district of Las Vegas. It easily became a favorite hub of fun-loving Filipino immigrants who hang out for authentic Pinoy food and live OPM music experience.
Like many other businesses that faced hardship during the pandemic season, Gimik Republik closed down for a while to come back to a fresh start late last year and went on to do a full Resbak when they had their two-day Grand Relaunch last March 11 and 12, 2023 to an SRO crowd. The two-day event featured the best Filipino live band performers in Las Vegas like Heroes of the Day, The Playlist LV, Left Arm Scar, Vegas Pnoy Band, and the Hausband playing the iconic music of Filipino rock bands like Eraserheads and Rivermaya. The second-night audience was also treated to a spontaneous jamming of celebrity guest Teddy Corpuz of It’s Showtime and Gladys Guevarra formerly of Eat Bulaga during the latter’s special show that same night.
Present to welcome the regular Gimikeros and Gimikeras are Gimik Republik owners Geraldine Zheng and John Claudio, the venue’s PR Associate Jessica Claudio, Operations Manager Jessie Claudio, and its Entertainment Manager Chris Flores. On regular days, Gimik lovers can enjoy great Pinoy food and music with special treats like its Happy Hours where one can get 50 percent off on local beers and select appetizers, its Karaoke Nightly where one can own the microphone and the stage to unlimited song selections, its Industry Night for service workers every Tuesday for crazy price cuts on everything on the menu, its Girls Night Out every Wednesday where ladies literally own the house, and lastly Gimik’s famous No Cover Live Band entertainment every Friday and Saturday. Gimik Republik is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 5PM to 2AM in the morning.
