Welder dies after being hit by SUV in Candelaria

CANDELARIA, Quezon -- A 57-year-old welder died on the spot after his motorcycle was hit by a sports utility vehicle at dawn Sunday, June 4, along Candelaria by-pass road in Barangay Pahinga Norte in this town. The Candelaria police report identified the victim as Zosimo de La Cruz, a resident of Barangay Piisa, Tiaong, Quezon. The unidentified driver left his Toyota Land Cruiser with plate number XJA-958 at the place where the accident happened. The victim on board his motorcycle was northbound when he was hit by an oncoming SUV that suddenly got into the very lane the victim was traversing. The victim sustained severe head and body injuries and died on the spot. The police are now checking the identity of the driver who is facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property which will be filed at the prosecutor’s office.
