It has only been a year since his landslide victory at the 2022 polls, but President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has one definite answer on the legacy he wants to leave behind: to be remembered as the person who helped the ordinary Filipino.

Marcos said this after he opened the Malacañang Heritage Tours, which explore the lives and legacies of the country's leaders.

In his recent vlog, the President was asked about his legacy that he wanted Filipinos to remember him by.

"Kapag wala na ako, sana maalala ako na siya'y talagang tumulong sa pangkaraniwan na taong Pilipino (When I'm gone, I hope they would remember be as someone who really helped the ordinary Filipino)," he said.

However, Marcos admitted that he was not really thinking about this as he had a lot on his plate.

"Hindi natin masyadong iniisip 'yang legasiya na 'yan. Sa dami ng kailangan nating gawin, trabaho lang muna (We're not thinking about that legacy too much. There are many things to do. Let's work first)," he said.

"Pagka maganda naman ang ating magagawa, 'yan ang magiging legasiya natin (If we're doing good things, that could be our legacy)," he added.

President Marcos, whose family's legacy is an unfortunate one, said he was not working just so people could remember him after his term.

"Hindi naman dapat kailangang isipin, ginagawa ito para maalala ako-- hindi (We don't have to think about it. I'm not doing this just so I could be remembered)," he said.

"Ginagawa natin lahat para makabuti at makatulong sa taumbayan. 'Yan ang ating mga legasiya (We're doing everything we can to help our people. That's our legacy)," he added.

Under the Malacañang Heritage Tours, Bahay Ugnayan Museum and Teus Mansion will offer free guided tours from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to visitors who made reservations.

The Bahay Ugnayan Museum features Marcos' road to the presidency, highlighting the defining moments of his tenure and campaign materials that paved the path to his presidency.

The Teus Mansion, on the other hand, showcases the memorabilia of the country's chief executives. Presidential attire, footwear, flags, and exquisitely sculpted busts are displayed inside the museum, paying homage to the revered leaders. It also dedicates a corner to the portraits of the First Ladies.

Before this, Marcos issued Executive Order (EO) No. 26 last month, creating an advisory board and management center to manage Malacañang Heritage Mansions efficiently.

In his EO, the President cited the need to maintain, preserve, and utilize the properties in recognition of their potential to promote the country's history and culture.
