DHSUD starts building 11,320 units for in-city housing project in Cabanatuan
More than 11,300 informal settler families (ISFs) and those under the low income bracket in Nueva Ecija will soon have their own homes after the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) has started the construction of another township development project in Cabanatuan City.
DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar said the township project is located at the central business hub in Barangay San Juan Accfa in Cabanatuan City.
The project will build a total of 11,320 housing units in a development site spanning 4.3 hectares (ha) and will be divided in three phases— Phase 1 with 3,740 units in 1.48 hectares, Phase 2 with 3,260 units in 1.17 hectares and Phase 3 with 4,320 units in 1.65 hectares.
“Strategically located near the city hall, the project site sits within the vicinity of the central transport terminal with schools, hospitals and malls around it. It also has access roads to major establishments and services around the city,” said Acuzar
In his message, Acuzar commended the project’s master plan that integrated relevant urban development strategies to ensure sustainability of living in the housing communities the housing program will establish.
For her part, Mayor Myca Elizabeth Vergara acknowledged DHSUD for the assistance it extends to the LGU as she committed to see through the project implementation, following the plan, until its completion and awarding it to the target beneficiaries.
The DHSUD has signed memoranda of understanding with 146 local government units around the country.
Cabanatuan City is the 27th groundbreaking ceremony under the housing program.
