2 minors drown in Laguna river

CALAMBA CITY, Laguna – Two minors reportedly drowned while swimming in a river in Barangay Lamesa here on Saturday, June 3. A friend of the victims said they went swimming in the Ibayo River at around 4:30 p.m. However, the victims failed to emerge while swimming, which was promptly reported to responders. Their bodies were separately retrieved in a search and retrieval operation by the Local Disaster Risk Reduction Management Division (LDRRMD) and the Bureau of Fire Protection-Calamba. The first body was recovered at 9:15 p.m. Saturday and the second three hours later at 12:30 a.m. Sunday. Police said the bodies of the victims were subjected to autopsy to determine their cause of death.
