Taiwan extends visa-free entry to Filipinos until July 31, 2024

Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) has announced the extension of the trial visa-free entry for nationals from select countries, including the Philippines, from Aug. 1, 2023, to July 31, 2024.

In a statement, Taiwan's MOFA said it made the decision after evaluating the measure's effectiveness and considering the need to revive mutual bilateral exchanges and tourism in the post-pandemic era. "The meeting conducted a comprehensive review of existing visa and entry measures, focusing on the trial visa-free entry program for nationals of Thailand, Brunei, and the Philippines," it said on June 30. In addition, the Project for Simplifying Visa Regulations for High-end Group Tourists from Southeast Asian Countries will continue until Dec. 31, 2024. According to Taiwan's MOFA, it would continue reviewing and fine-tuning visa policies to strengthen bilateral exchanges and attract more visitors while ensuring border and public security. Meanwhile, it would also continue communicating with the governments of related countries to enhance visa treatment for Taiwanese nationals and make their overseas travel more convenient.
