Roads closed, expect heavy traffic on July 2 due to 'Araw ng Pasig' festivities 


Heavy traffic is expected in some areas in Pasig City due to the "Araw ng Pasig" festivities on Sunday, July 2.

Traffic build-up is expected in the vicinity of the Pasig City Hall, particularly in Caruncho Avenue due to the preparations for the "Gabi ng Pasasalamat" or Thanksgiving Night hosted by the local government.

From 4 p.m. onwards, Caruncho Avenue (both directions in front of the city hall), and F. Manalo Street (in front of the city hall) will be temporarily closed for the evening program.

A rerouting scheme was released by the Pasig Public Information Office (PIO) to guide motorists to alternative routes during the implementation of the road closures.

Motorists coming from the Pasig Mega Market going to San Joaquin or Bagumbayan are advised to take Road 2, turn right to Caruncho Avenue, and left to F. Manalo Street.

From F. Manalo Street, they can choose to either turn left to F. Antonio Street, right to PIO Alvarez Street, then right to Elisco Road; or turn right to G. Raymundo Street, right to R. Jabson Street, left to P, Burgos Street, left to Lopez Jaena Street, left to Dr. Garcia Street, then right to R. Jabson Street.

In reverse, from Bagumbayan or San Joaquin going to the Mega Market, motorists can take Elisco Road, turn left to M. Jimenez Street, cross Kalawaan Bridge, turn right to F. Antonio Street, left to Balerrama Street.

They may also choose to take R. Jabson Street, turn right to G. Raymundo Street, left to F. Manalo Street, then right to Caruncho Avenue.

Vehicles going to Crossing or Quiapo from Bagumbayan or San Joaquin can take the R. Jabson Street.

From R. Jabson Street, they can either head straight to Dr. Sixto Antonio Avenue, right to C. Raymundo Avenue, then left to Pasig Boulevard Extension; or turn right to G. Raymundo Street, left to F. Manalo Street, right to Caruncho Avenue, left to Market Avenue, left to E. Santos Street, then straight to E. Angeles Street.

Vehicles coming from Rotonda going to the Mega Market can take the A. Mabini Street, turn right to P. Burgos Street, left to Lopez Jaena Street, left to Dr. Garcia Street, left to R. Jabson Street, right to G. Raymundo Street, left to F. Manalo Street, then right to Caruncho Avenue.

Another option is taking C. Raymundo Avenue, turn right to Mercedes Avenue, then right to Market Avenue.

A two-way traffic scheme will be enforced in Caruncho Avenue, specifically the road beside the Sports Center and 747 Lumber.

Road 2 to F. Manalo Street will also follow a one-way scheme southbound.

The "Gabi ng Pasasalamat" will be the culminating activity for the city's traditional 450th founding anniversary or "Araw ng Pasig." A concert will be held at the Pasig City Hall Quadrangle, featuring artists such as Itchyworms, Bamboo, Abra, Apo Hiking Society, Ace Banuzelo, Boobay, and Tres Marias.
