Albay 2nd district Rep. Joey Salceda has boldy claimed that Philippine tourism is "incomplete" without the province's iconic Mayon Volcano.

Salceda--apparently still smarting from Mayon’s exclusion from the Department of Tourism's (DOT) new promotional video for the Philippines--wrote this in all caps on his Facebook Thursday, June 29: "EVERYONE LOVES MAYON. PHILIPPINE TOURISM IS INCOMPLETE WITHOUT MAYON VOLCANO."

The former three-term provincial governor also said that "ALBAY WILL ALWAYS THRIVE," before throwing in the hashtags #LOVEALBAY , #LOVEMAYON , #AlbaySagcodPaman , and #AlbayForever .

The DOT's new slogan for Philippine tourism is "Love the Philippines".

Salceda's Facebook post also came with a list of 13 facts as to why "Mayon is an icon in the Philippines and I the world, sine them immemorial".

"Mayon Volcano is in the Guiness World Records for being the 'Most Conical Volcano' on Earth," read one of the listed facts.

"MAYON IS A TOURISM STAR. It is famous around the world, attracting millions of tourists every year, both local and foreign making Albay as one of the major tourist destinations in the Philippines. It was even visited personally by the Secretary General of United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Taleb Rifai when Albay hosted thr UNWTO and ASEAN Summit in 2014," read another tidbit.

A few days ago, Salceda called out DOT Secretary Christina Frasco for not including Mayon in the promotional video, and for representing the volcano as--in the congressman's own words--just "a pixel" in the agency’s Love the Philippines logo.

"No love for Albay, no love for Bicol. Thank you na lang. Albay tourism will thrive without you, LOVE ALBAY!" Salceda wrote in an earlier post.
