P248,880 shabu seized in Caraga


BUTUAN CITY – Police seized shabu worth P248,880 from nine suspected drug pushers in the Caraga region during the conduct of simultaneous anti-illegal drug operations on Wednesday, June 28.

“All the suspects will be charged with violation of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002,” Police Regional Office-13 Director Police Brig. Gen. Pablo G. Labra II said.

Labra said one of the  suspects was once arrested for using illegal drugs in 2014. The suspect was a source of illegal drugs in Barangays Libertad and Ambago here and in some areas in  Buenavista town, Agusan del Norte.

Twenty-five grams of shabu valued at P180,000 were seized in a buy-bust operation here conducted by the Regional Intelligence Division and Butuan City Police Office.

The Agusan del Norte police arrested two high-value individuals and seized 5.7 grams of shabu worth P38,760 during the service of search warrants.

A buy-bust operation in Barangay Malinao, General Luna, Surigao del Norte resulted in the arrest of two suspected drug pushers who yielded .9 grams of shabu worth P6,120 and other illegal drug paraphernalia.

In Barangay Bungtod, Tandag City, Surigao del Sur, three grams of shabu worth P20,400 were recovered in the residence of a drug pusher. Police are now conducting follow-up operations against the suspect who managed to evade the arrest during the operation.

“We vow to intensify the government's crackdown on illegal drugs, this time focusing on high-value targets who are the sources of illegal substances being sold in the communities,” Labra said.

“We can sustain the momentum through the continuous support and cooperation from every peace-loving Caraganon in our anti-illegal drug campaigns.”
