The National Water Resources Board (NWRB) said on Friday, June 30, that it has granted the request of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) for a 50 cubic meter per second (CMS) water allocation for the month of July.

* A statement released by NWRB said the water allocation for MWSS is two CMS higher than the regular allocation of 48 CMS. However, this is lower than the 52 CMS water allocation to MWSS for June. The NWRB said the additional two CMS allocation was approved “to ease water service interruption” for MWSS amid the lower rainfall during the dry season. Meanwhile, the irrigation allocation for MWSS will be at 28.5 CMS, the NWRB noted. However, it added that the allocation may be adjusted depending on its requirements while also considering the local rainfall in the area. The NWRB reminded the public to conserve water as the Angat Dam’s water level continues to drop, and is currently at 182.65 meters nearing the minimum operating level at 180 meters. The MWSS has concession deals with Manila Water and Maynilad which service the east and west zones of Metro Manila and other nearby provinces. (Nicole Magmanlac)
