LOOK: Angara launches the first convention center in Baler 


Sen. Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara has led the inauguration of the Senator Edgardo J. Angara Convention Center in Baler, Aurora.

Angara said the completion of the convention center is a realization of the late Senate President’s dream for Baler, and the entire province of Aurora, to thrive and flourish.

The senator said the center is the biggest infrastructure project of Baler in the last two decades and the first named after his father. 

"This is just the first of many,” Sen. Angara said on Thursday, June 29. Soon to be constructed also in Baler are the National Museum of the Philippines and a world-class skate park. Angara said Baler showcases itself as a cultural, historical and adventure destination.

Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary Amenah Pangandaman, who served as chief-of-staff of the elder Angara, joined the groundbreaking ceremony for the National Museum.

Pangandaman vowed to ensure the completion of the National Museum with the necessary funding in the national budget. 

Other personalities present during the ceremonies were Spanish Ambassador to the Philippines H.E. Miguel Utray; Andoni Aboitiz, Chairman of the National Museum Board of Trustees; National Museum Director Jeremy Barnes; renowned architect Ed Calma, who designed the National Museum in Baler; Aurora Rep. Rommel Rico Angara; and Baler Mayor Rhett Ronan Angara.
