Lawyer denies TAPE sued by supermarket chain over 'Eat Bulaga' advertising fees
The lawyer of the Television and Production Exponents Inc. (TAPE), the producer of the longest running noontime show “Eat Bulaga,” denied social media posts that the company was sued by supermarket chain Puregold to recover advertising fees it paid.
"Another false news," said Maggie Abraham-Garduque, the lawyer of TAPE, which is majority owned by the Jalosjos family.

According to Abraham-Garduque, the contract between TAPE and Puregold is coterminous with the show “Eat Bulaga” and not with the hosts. Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto and Joey de Leon, and the rest of the cast of “Eat Bulaga” left TAPE and are set to launch a new show on TV5 on July 1. "The contract is between Puregold and TAPE Inc. for ‘Eat Bulaga’ show. It is coterminous with the show and not with the hosts. Thus, there is no ground for the refund even if the main hosts left,” the lawyer said. She explained that “as long as there is a show ‘Eat Bulaga’ ’within the wide reach network, GMA Network, the contract between TAPE Inc and Puregold shall subsist. These are two big companies which both respect the terms of the contract.” “It is stated in their contract that the same cannot be canceled and the fee is non-refundable. As far as I know, sales [teams] of TAPE and Puregold had been conducting meetings so they can decide on which segment ng show ilalagay ang Puregold which will best suit their brand campaign," said Abraham-Garduque. She said if there is a case, TAPE should have received a copy of the complaint. “I have not received any letter for refund,” she said.
