Iranian president says Muslims won't condone desecration of Quran

TEHRAN, Iran -- Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi on Friday condemned the Quran-burning in Sweden, according to the official news agency IRNA.    In an address to worshippers in the southeastern Iranian province of Kerman, he said the desecration insulted the "most valuable divine book" and hurt the feelings of 2 billion Muslims, which global Muslim community will not condone.    In Stockholm on Wednesday, a Swedish citizen said to be of Iraqi origin, tore up a copy of the Quran and burned it in front of a mosque during a demonstration authorized by the Swedish authorities, which sparked furious reactions from Muslims across the world.    The Iranian Foreign Ministry on Thursday summoned Sweden's charge d'affaires in Tehran and protested the "sacrilegious" act.    Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani also on Thursday strongly condemned Sweden for permitting the burning of the Quran.
