Angara confident PBBM will continue to promote PH as an investment destination
Senator Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara on Friday, June 30 said he is confident President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has plans to further promote the Philippines as a potential destination for foreign investments in the next five years.

Angara made the remark at the sidelines of the 21st Philippine-Spanish Friendship Day in Baler, Aurora, when asked about Marcos’ biggest achievement after a year in office. “His biggest achievement is telling the world that the Philippines is open and ready for business,” Angara said in a statement. “Nakikita ko kay PBBM na gusto niya tlaga ipagyabang sa mundo ang galing at abilidad ng mga Pinoy- para sila ay maginvest dito upang magkatrabaho at kabuhayan ang ating mga kababayan (I can see that the President really wants to boast to the world the skills and abilities of Filipinos so they can invest here and our people will have the opportunity to have jobs and livelihood),” Angara said. Judging the developments in the world stage, Angara said he believes the President can easily convince foreign investors to consider the Philippines as an investment destination. “I think ituloy lang niya yung pag promote ng Pilipinas as an investment destination kasi marami talagang naghahanap ng matatayuan ng pabrika dahil sa nangyayari sa daigdig ngayon—may mga gyera, mga developments (I think he will continue to promote the Philippines as an investment destination because there are really so many of them looking for areas to build factories because of what is happening in the world today—there are wars, and other developments),” the Senate Committee on Finance chief pointed out. “So yung pagsabi niya sa mundo na bukas ang Pilipinas, nakikita ko na gusto niya na magkaroon ng mga hanapbuhay sa Pilipinas, na sumigla dahil alam niya na yun ang maglalagay ng pagkain sa mga lamesa ng mga pamilya (So in telling the world that the Philippines is open for investments, I can see he seriously wants to generate more livelihood opportunities in the country, because he knows that is one way of putting food on the table of each family),” he said. Asked to grade the President’s performance, Angara gave him a grade of 87. “There’s still a lot to do because that’s only one sixth of his term. He’s got five years pa,” he explained. Some members of his Cabinet, the senator noted, are also still new. “So there’s a learning curve pa rin. But they’ll be busier in the coming months,” he said.
