NEW DELHI, India -- At least seven people, including five women and a child, died and 12 others sustained severe injuries in a road accident in India's southern state of Karnataka on Friday, confirmed a local police officer over the phone.
   The mishap occurred when a heavy vehicle collided with two small vehicles carrying the victims at Vaddarahalli Bridge of Hospet area in Vijayanagara district, added the officer.
   All the dead belonged to the same family.
   The victims were residents of Ballari district and traveling to Tungabhadra Dam, near Hospet area, in the two small vehicles when the accident occurred.
   A total of 19 people were traveling in the two ill-fated vehicles at the time of the mishap.Â
